艾伦·杜恩（原名约瑟夫·阿洛伊修斯·杜恩）于1885年4月3日出生于加拿大安大略省多伦多市。他身兼导演与编剧双重身份，其代表作包括《完美罪行》（1921）、《摩洛哥枷锁》（1918）及《破碎玩偶》（1921）。他曾与玛丽·谢尔顿及宝琳·布什结为连理。1981年12月28日，杜恩在美国加利福尼亚州洛杉矶伍德兰希尔斯与世长辞。
