The Buddenbrook House

About the rise and fall of a large family in Germany in the 19th century, based on a novel by Tomas Mann. In Lübeck, the Buddenbrook family of merchants has settled on the sale of grain and has for generations become increasingly richer and very well regarded in the city. They live well in their large house with many rooms and faithful servants. However, as brothers Thomas and Christian Buddenbrook take over the business in the third generation, things start to go downhill. While Thomas does everything to take the family fortune to new heights, Christian struggles with work ethic.
