In the last months of the Second World War, millions of Germans flee the war-torn country. From February to April 1945, around 250,000 refugees arrived in Denmark. Among them were the refugee children Katrin, Klaus and Peter, who were isolated in refugee camps in Hjørring. Only Katrin and Peter returned home.
