The fates of Poles who won the Green Card in a lottery organized by the American government are shown here. The first few episodes show the lives of the characters before leaving for the USA - what they do, what motivated them to take part in the lottery and what hopes they have for emigrating. The next ones are filmed overseas, where Poles try to build a new life for themselves - how do they manage, do they regret their decision, is it easier for them than in Poland? The series is a reliable and honest record of the fates and state of mind of emigrants a few months before and after leaving their homeland.
