Serial Killers (2009)

In this chilling new series, viewers get the chance to walk in the footsteps of the detectives who worked on some of the most infamous murder cases from the last twenty years. Real police video material, archive news footage and dramatic reconstructions combine with interviews from investigating officers, forensic scientists and victim's families to tell the stories of these shocking crimes; as well as revealing the key techniques used to solve them. Cases include: the horrific murders committed by Dennis Nilsen in London during the 1970s and 80s - how he killed and how a gruesome discovery in his drains led to his capture; cold-blooded Aileen Wuornos whose killing spree eventually led to her execution; the Yorkshire Ripper's sickening crimes and the bungled police investigations that let him continue to kill; and the recent slaying by the Suffolk Strangler Steve Wright and how he was brought to justice.
