In order to curb the problem of street dogs, Romania has masses of animals captured, imprisoned and killed. The killing stations collect an average of 200 euros for each animal caught for "dog management". According to the PETA estimate, more than 1.1 million dogs have been killed since the beginning of the 2000s.
