Captain of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Aglaya Mezentseva and investigator Vsevolod Kosinsky, one of the best specialists in child search cases, are trying to unravel the disappearance of the 5‑year‑old grandson of world‑renowned conductor Mark Krechetov. The boy mysteriously vanished during a walk with his nanny, and the woman herself was struck on the head and lost her memory. Every member of the Krechetov family falls under suspicion, and Kosinsky spares no one in pursuit of results. Aglaya disapproves of Kosinsky’s methods, yet becomes his best student. The deeper she digs into the tangled web of complicated family relationships and financial schemes within the Krechetov family, the more she is forced to sacrifice — her peace of mind, her career, the lives and feelings of others, and even risk the safety of her unborn child.
