Living Pushkin

"Living Pushkin" is a project prepared for the 200th anniversary of the poet's birth. This is a documentary story about the poet's life and the era that went down in history as the "Pushkin era". From episode to episode, Pushkin's life appears before us as a genuine "encyclopedia of Russian life": the memoirs of serfs are juxtaposed with fragments of Pushkin's letters; the presenter talks about the dueling code, the work of the secret police, the rules of exile, drinking traditions and the drinks market, the Imperial Theatre and bride fairs... The film tells about facts that can destroy stereotypes associated with the poet's biography and work, show his amazing life in a new light and reveal the mysterious circumstances of his death.
