
40 años de democracia
Francisco Franco is dead and King Juan Carlos is the new head of the state. Adolfo Suárez, named president of the government, turns out to be the perfect key to opening the dictatorship bunker. No one believes in him, only the king and a very small circle of collaborators. However, nothing and no one manages to stop the long-awaited democracy demanded by Spanish society. The first free elections in democracy were held in June 1977, with more than a score of political parties, including the newly legalized Communist Party. The triumph of the UCD of Adolfo Suarez marks the direction of the transition to the orders of King Juan Carlos, as well as the dialogue with the main forces of the opposition. From emblematic scenarios such as the Senate, the Congress of Deputies and the presidency of the Government, the witnesses of this transcendental period for our most recent history are devasting the key events of those months, which laid the foundations of Functioning of our current democracy.
