Mythos Rommel

Field Marshal Erwin Rommel was a heroic legend of the "Third Reich". The desert fox was regarded by friends and enemies as a brilliant strategist - and at the same time was a loyal servant of Hitler. The Nazi propaganda stylized him like no other during the Africa campaign as a genius general. Rommel was distant from the resistance in the Wehrmacht, and he refused to assassinate the dictator. But there were indications that the popular army leader was privy to the plans of the Wehrmacht officers to overthrow in 1944.
