Al Sur del Mundo is a Chilean ethnographic and naturalistic documentary series originally broadcast between 1982 and 2001. With a total of 124 episodes, it portrays the geographical, cultural, and historical diversity of Chile and Latin America, creating a unique audiovisual archive of landscapes, trades, traditions, ethnography, and heritage. The series was distributed internationally in English and French versions, and many of its episodes won awards at documentary film festivals. In 1995, it was declared "Auxiliary Material for Chilean Education" and is still used in educational settings. Considered in Europe as a pillar of the "Chilean documentary school," Al Sur del Mundo is a cult production for Chilean audiences.
