Handmade Music

Using the skills of a woodworker and the passions of a musician, a luthier hand crafts stringed instruments. Handmade Music sounds out the step-by-step process of building classic instruments, including how to select the wood, cut, carve and assemble the instruments, and finally, play them. Renowned luthier Lynn Dudenbostel shows how a classic Martin D-28-style guitar is built by hand from raw wood. Other luthiers demonstrate how to construct a variety of stringed instruments including an Appalachian dulcimer, banjo and a classical violin.
