Almost all descriptions of Auschwitz so far have come from people who left the camp alive. They are, by definition, stories of survival. But the mass destruction that took place in Auschwitz is a completely different phenomenon. This documentary trilogy focuses purely on the process that led to the disappearance of more than a million people. A different perspective, with different images and different stories than we are used to. The testimonies in these documentaries come straight from the 'death factory' of Auschwitz. We get a clear picture of how people were systematically put to death in facilities designed especially for that purpose. What makes this triptych extra impressive is the fact that all those victims are no longer there themselves. All that remains of them is the story of how they met their end.
