1917-2017: a hundred years ago the Bolsheviks seized power in Russia. Ezio Mauro returns to the places of the revolution to tell the protagonists in 10 episodes: one chapter a month, to be read in the newspaper and to be seen on the web. The first is dedicated to Grigorij Rasputin, the illiterate monk who influenced the political and military decisions of Tsar Nicholas II and his wife Aleksandra. The adventurous assassination of him, which took place in December 1916, exactly a century ago, anticipated the fall of the imperial family and the end of an era. Today the traces of the "holy devil" are everywhere: in his home in Gorochovaja street in St. Petersburg, in the memory of the Russians, in an old cross that emerges from the woods and snow of Zarskoe Selo, the imperial residence. But the mystery of him continues.
