
It tells about the most important events and figures in the history of Poland from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries until 2004, when Poland joined NATO and the European Union. The series presents the canon of historical knowledge and the sources of Poles' identity. It shows the events and processes that shaped patriotic and civic attitudes in those years. Each of the 42 half-hour episodes of the cycle deals with a selected issue, e.g. the economy of the Second Polish Republic, Stalinism in Poland, and political emigration in 1957-89. The topics will include episodes covering ground-breaking events in our history, e.g. the May coup, December 1970, the Polish summer of 1980.
