Thefilmsareallshotinthesameway,usingasingle360degreetime-lapsedshotfromthecentreofthecinemawhereafeaturefilmisprojectedwithoutanaudience.Thesoundtrackofeachfilmreflectsthefilmbeingprojected,thesoundhavingbeenrecordedintheprojectionboothduringtheprojection.Eachfilmisadistilledcinematicexperience,thesoundbecomesacacophonyofpastprojectionsandtheauralexperienceisclosertothatoftheprojectionistthantheaudience. Thisworkisacontinuationofmyexplorationofplaceanditsculturalmeaning.Usinglighttoanimatespace,focusingontheplace,theenvironmentitselfIaminterestedinwhatitcanrevealofitshistory,itsmeaninganditsculturalnarratives. ThefilmstodatearemadeinTheFuturist,Scarborough,a2000seatcinemathreatenedwithclosure,TheWooltonPictureHouse,theoldestworkingcinemainLiverpoolandThePlaza,Stockport,arestored1930’sArtDecocinema,completewithworkingWurlizterorgan.Eachofthesecinemashasitsowndistinctivecharacter,theessenceofwhichiscapturedinthefilms.Thesefilmsareanhomageto35mmfilmandthecinemaexperience.
