FILM2011isaportraitoftheanalogue,photochemical,non-digitalmediumoffilm,madebytheartistTacitaDean.Itissilent,lasts10minutesand42seconds,andisplayedonacontinuousloop.DeanmadeFILMbyturningaCinemascopelensninetydegrees,upendingtheusuallandscapeformatsoitbecomesverticalandinscalewiththeproportionsofTateModern’sTurbineHall,forwhichtheworkwascommissionedin2011aspartoftheUnileverSeries.Ithasbeenproducedinaneditionoffour,ofwhichTate’scopyisnumberone.FILMdepictsTateModern,howevermanyofthescenesareoverlaidwithscratchesandpaintoroversaturatedwithcolour.Ithassprocketholesevocativeoftheanaloguemediumdowntheleft-andright-handsides.WhentheworkwasshownaspartoftheUnileverSeriesin2011–12,itwasprojectedonaspeciallymadescreenontheeasternwalloftheTurbineHall.
