Inordertoanswerthislayeredquestion,somanyothertopicssurrounding“mosque-culture”hadtobeaddressed.ShouldtheFridaysermonbedeliveredinEnglishorArabicorUrdu?Whatshouldthewomen’sarealooklike?Shouldtheyouthsharethemosquespacewiththeadults,orshouldtheycreatetheirown,thirdspace,tohangoutin?Isthemosqueaplaceforprayerandspiritualgrowth,orisitrequiredtobesomethingmore? SomanymosquesinAmericahavethesameproblems:youthnotshowingup,lackoffunds,ethnocentrism,irrelevanttopicsnotaddressingcurrentsocialproblems,inequalityinregardstowomen’srights,etc.ImagineifwesawpositivechangeintheAmericansocietyinfluencedandgalvanizedbycommunitiesassociatedwiththeirlocalmosques!HowvastlydifferentthiswouldbethanIslamophobesfloodingthemediaasking,”Whereareallthe“moderate”Muslims?” ThisfilmwillexplorethevariousfunctionsofthemosqueintheAmericancontext,whoisleadingthem,wheretheyaregoing,whytheyoutharenotattending,andmostimportantly:WhatisthepurposeofthemosqueinAmerica-andisitfulfillingit?
