Thefilm'splotrevolvesaroundKanthasamy(playedbyVikram),whoisaIncomeTaxofficerintheCBI,andhisfriends,grantingthewishesoftheneedywhowriteletterstoalocalLordMurugatemplebydisguisinghimselfasananthropomorphicchicken.DuringaCBIincometaxraid,hediscoversastashofblackmoneyownedbyPonnusamy(playedbyAshishVidyarthi),arichandcorruptedentrepreneur.Ponnusamypretendstobeparalysedtoescapethequestioning.Angeredbythenewsthatherfatherisparalysed,Ponnusamy'sdaughter,Subbulakshmi(playedbyShriyaSaran)goesafterKanthasamytoseekrevengebypretendingtobeinlovewithhim.Kanthasamy,knowingSubbulakshmi'srealintentionsplaysalonginthegame.Thisformsacatandmousechasebetweenthetwo.Inacomicalrole,Thengakadai(playedbyVadivelu)isalsosoughtafterbyalocalpoliceinspectorwhotriestosolvethemysteryof"LordMurugasavingthepeople".ThefateofKanthasamy'sdisguiseleadsintotheclimaxofthestory.ThelocalpoliceinspectorwasabletobringoutthetruththataCBIisinvolvedintherolebehindthesecretworkofhelpingtheneedypeoplealthoughhewasnotabletoconfirmit.KanthasamyfindsthepasswordofSubbulakshmi'sfamilybankaccount,inwhichtheblackmoneyisillegallysaved.HetricksSubbulakshmiintorevealingthepasswordandanswersforthesecurityquestionsindirectly.Kanthasamyfinallytransfersthemoneytohisaccountwhichwouldbeusedforhelpingthepoorandneedypeople.Ironically,intheend,Subbulakshmi'sfatherwasparalysedattheendknowingthatthepasswordwhichwasusedbyhimtoaccesshisblackmoneywaschanged.AfterthatSubbulakshmiandKanthasamyweremarriedandwerelivinginnorthernIndia.Kanthasamysawsomeletterstiedtoatree,justliketheonesattheLordMurugatemple.Hereadoneandheputaletterintohispocketwithasecretsmile,whichmeantheistheanthromorphicchickenagain.
