In1945,aftertheNazicampswereliberated,NeusCatalà,afeministandarepublican,returnstoFrance,whereshehopestobereunitedwithherhusband,Albert.Assherebuildshernewlifeasafreewoman,sherememberstheeventsthattookplacethepreviousyear,when,asaprisoneroftheNazis,shewassenttoworkinamilitaryweaponsfactoryinCzechoslovakia.Inordertocontinuethefightandmaintainherresistance,Neusbecametheleaderofgroupofwomenwhosabotagedtheweaponsfactory,muchtothedesperationoftheNazis.ThisgroupofwomenwascalledtheGandulasCommando.
