Aaron Maté is a Canadian writer and journalist. He hosts the show Pushback with Aaron Maté on The Grayzone and, as of January 2022, he fills in as a host on the Useful Idiots podcast. Maté works as reporter for The Grayzone, a fringe far-left news website and blog known for sympathetic coverage of the Russian and Syrian governments. He is also a contributor to The Nation and RealClearPolitics. He became well known for challenging the conclusions of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections, which Maté described as "Russiagate." Maté earned an Izzy Award in April 2019 for this work.
