The Grouch
Karl Sträubler is fundamentally against everything that others do. For some time now he has been particularly excited by the squeaky tram that passes his house; He has already made 25 entries, all of them unsuccessful. After falling out with his friend Weichert, he also throws his son Heinrich out when he asks for his daughter Leni's hand in marriage. Sträubler is determined to get Leni engaged to Ferdinand, the son of a business friend. But the young people don't allow themselves to be dictated to, and Sträubler ultimately receives a just punishment for his insolence: because of improper behavior in court, he ends up in prison and has time to reflect on himself.
