Every summer the workers come to Lake Constance to pick hops. It is a truly hot harvest, with the full heat of summer still lingering over the land. Among the workers is Auschra, a refugee girl from Memelland. Konrad, the heir to the Stammer farm, succumbs to her strange charm.
