A young man from Thessaloniki, Petros, has just finished his studies abroad and now intends to marry Kaiti, the daughter of a high school teacher. However, one of her cousins, Alekos, is also in love with Kaiti, who tries to prevent the marriage, using the past of Petros' mother, Anna, who sings in a nightclub under the name Sylvia. But Kaiti's father, who knows Anna because many years ago he was president of the jury that had convicted her for the murder of her lover and Petros' father - he killed him because he had chased her away when he found out she was pregnant -, has serious objections, despite his wife's contrary opinion.
