The Horizontal Bank goes bankrupt due to a dispute between Bernal Max and a government economic advisor. The collapse of that banking institution leads the country to an economic situation so tragic and difficult that the economic advisor along with three other ministers conspire behind the president's back to sell the island to some Arabs who want to buy it for the simple whim of pleasing their wives. Ernesto and Fidel, two independent Puerto Ricans who dream of going down in history as heroes of freedom like Che Guevara, see their great opportunity to achieve their dream with the situation in the Dominican Republic and convince Simón and Bolívar, two Dominican communists who reside on the island, to go from Puerto Rico to Santo Domingo in a yawl to overthrow the Dominican president.
