In five homes in the Netherlands, the monasteries of the Good Shepherd, twenty thousand girls with a difficult childhood were cared for from 1860 to 1978. Britta Hosman travels with Lies Vissers, Joke de Smit and R. Riet throughout the country to reconstruct what they and all the others experienced during their childhood.
