Mesut Özil – Zu Gast bei Freunden

Exceptional footballer Mesut Özil was once considered a role model for successful integration. But when he had himself photographed with Turkish President Recep Erdoğan, Germany turned against him. The three-part documentary series "Mesut Özil – A Guest Among Friends" reconstructs his rise and fall. It paints a comprehensive and ambivalent picture of those dramatic weeks that led to Özil's resignation from the national football team – and to his estrangement from Germany. (Text: ZDF)
