In 1989 the BBC sent a variety of thoughtful travellers across the globe to give their personal perspectives on regions of particular interest or expertise. Poets, writers, explorers and musicians - each traveller chooses an area that holds personal meaning for them. For some it means revisiting memories, for others fulfilling childhood dreams.
