History Classics: WWII Unsung Heroes

A stirring collection of bravery and conquest, WWII: UNSUNG HEROES details the horror and heroism of some of the most famous campaigns of military history, focusing on the soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines whose courage, quick thinking and sacrifice helped pave the way to Allied victory. From Marine Red Mike Edson, who invented a new kind of high-mobility warfare that helped win some of America s earliest ground battles, to sailor/scientist Swede Momsen, who directed the rescue and recovery of the 33 crewmen of the sunken submarine, Squalus, this inspiring assortment of documentaries from HISTORY provides an intimately personal survey of an epic war. Other topics covered include the elite Marine Raider battalions that confronted enemy forces in surprise hit-and-run raids, helping to destroy Japanese supremacy on the ground, and the Tuskegee airmen who, in the face of bigotry and ignorance, shattered racist stereotypes to fight bravely for their country.
