The Highest Bid

Take a hall. Fill them with people. Place a trophy in the center and sell it to the highest bidder. The game of bidding and overbidding begins. In The Highest Bid, auctioneers from the most diverse Flemish auction houses give an insight into their world. Where the old-timer of King Baudouin is sold next to the Chinese vase that stood in your grandmother's kitchen for forty years. Where an artwork by Keith Haring is auctioned next to a rare bottle of wine. The masters let us look behind the scenes of the auction game. What happens before the hammer hits the wood? Do the high amounts ever get used to? How do you cultivate an instinct against counterfeits? The auction world is a place where special lots are sold by special masters, where the highest bid always wins. A story about beautiful objects and wanting to win.
