Abysses, la conquête des fonds marins

Begun a century and a half ago, the conquest of the ocean depths is a formidable adventure, both human and technological. Diving suits, bathyscaphes, submarines: by inventing new tools for exploration, industrialists, scientists and the military have made it possible to face these unknown territories and to meet the challenges posed by the cold, the absence of light and the terrible pressures . From the birth of oceanography to the appearance of "heavy-footers", from the invention of the scuba gear to the first underwater habitat experiments, from the first manually propelled submersibles to today's remotely operated robots today, the audacity of a few enthusiasts has continued to push back the limits. It is their story that the documentary Abysses retraces, with the help of exceptional archives and unpublished testimonies.
